We started at around 10 AM and on the way, we could see the Tea garden of Jalpaiguri welcoming us :
Curious monkey saying hello while we leave the plain areas and started our journey towards hill.
In between, we get to see the temporary road block and road not so great. But that’s purely temporary as cool air from the Hills welcomes us soon.
Weather gets better and better as temperature dips and we can see the hills come out in glory after three hours of journey from siliguri. In between, we could get to see the wild flowers and beautiful landscape.
A little known village named Chuikhim welcomed us. Check the Time of India link
At around 1.30 PM, we reached the Resort named Blue Pine Retreat. Its recommended by TripAdvisor as well and we found its pretty good (4/5) due to its serenity and excellent service.
A furry silent dog welcomed us
Reception desk of this Resort is simple and staffs are very friendly
Outdoor is nicely decorated with manicured lawns and flowers blooming pretty.
The Ceiling of the dining hall cum reception is nicely painted as you can see here :
Overnight train journey had made us tired. A sumptuous lunch is what we all wanted and the Resort did not disappoint us at all.
For the rest of the story of our visit to Kalimpong and Darjeeling, stay tuned as I will try to narrate it in great details in separate post.
Till then, have a great weekend !

Morning started with the Sunrise at Teesta Barrage, Gajoldoba, a place well known for the Migratory birds among Nature lovers.
Love the serenity of this place, specially in the morning hours.
Now a Mega Tourism Hub is under construction.
Gajoldoba is a small village on the western side of Teesta River close to the Baikunthapur forest. The village is in the Oodlabari area of Jalpaiguri district. Gajaldoba was famous for the dam on River Teesta that is being created for irrigation of agricultural land of North Bengal. The dam has created a large waterbody upstream which has become home to migratory birds during the winter. The natural beauty of the place with its view of the forest, river and mountain has always attracted tourists and local to the area. The barrage over Teesta river at Gajaldoba is also a major route of road connection between Dooars and Terai area of North Bengal.
Gajaldoba took increased prominence due to the state government initiate to promote mega tourism in the area. An area of more than 200 acres has been demarcated for the purpose and infrastructure is being developed. In the near future, the area is expected to become one of the high end tourist destinations of North Bengal.
The location of Gajaldoba is also quite advantageous. The place can be reached from Siliguri (30 kms, 1 hour) or Jalpaiguri town (40 kms, 1.5 hours). Oodlabari is 20 kms (45 minutes) and Gorumara National Park area is about 26 kms. [ Source – Bengal tourism official site ]
I hired a boat and could get a close view of some of the birds like Yellow-billed egret (Mesophoyx intermedia)
Ferruginous duck ( Aythya nyroca )

And not to forget the all important boat
I would try to update this post soon…..
Till then, check my Flickr
Its December but Sun was pretty harsh that day on the Beach. Tajpur located in between Digha and Mandarmani is a favorite weekend destination for bored city dwellers, three hours train journey from Kolkata, almost 180 kms away from the main city. Far away from the madding crowd, its a good holiday spot for the family and couples.
